Coaching a turn.

This video shows me coaching and demonstrating a stop turn.
The key points for a stop turn are:
-Head up at all times
-Arms out for balance and to hold off an opposition.
-Keep the ball at your feet.
- Use the sole of your foot to stop the ball.
- Jump over the ball after being stopped which will allow you to accelerate a lose the defender.
-Bend your knees after stopping the ball which will allow you to sheild it.

Coaching a knee control

This video shows me coaching and demonstrating knee control.
The coaching tips for this is:
- Keep your eye on the ball at all times
- Be on your toes.
- Let the ball hit your knee and stay relaxed.
- Keep your body over the ball so if you miss control it, you will still keep possession.
- Control it between your knee and upper thigh.
-Keep your body straight and up-right.

Foundation studies sports day.

We organised a foundation studies sports day which we had to promote and deliver.
Our aims - Inclusion, fun, competition and taking part in a range of activities.

50 people turned up to the events, 3 of them were wheelchair uses. We did 6 events; boccia, tennis, sit-down volleyball, goalball, hockey and curling.

Firstly we did a warm up in two groups, one doing aerobic exercises and the other doing a parachute game. We then split the group into four and we did a circuit so that everybody could try each activity.

All our group interacted with the participants which we bonded relationships from. We all joined in with the activities which had a positive effect on them.

Officiating 5.

Today, i was the linesman for the first team.that played Peterborough college at home. The game ended 11-1 to Chesterfield.

Chesterfield dominated. Peterborough had a deep back four and their strikers barely made runs forward. This made it very easy for me as all i had to was to keep up with play.

I made several decisions for throw-ins, goalkicks and corners. I also gave one offside. All of these decisions, i am confident that they were correct. My involvement was minimum but i remained focused and stayed inline with the last man.

Abercrombie visit 8.

Today we had to deliver bouncing and dribbling 1 to 1 for 20 minutes.

To start off with, i got Morgan to bounce the ball using both hands just to get the feel of the ball. After i got him to bounce the ball at a low height, then at a high height.
Then i got him to do it with his stronger hand, then his weaker hand.

Then i layed out two cones and two hoops in between. He had to dribble from cone to cone while bouncing the ball twice in each hoop.

Officiating 4.

Again, i reffed many 5-aside matches. This time i had no whistle so i had to use my voice loudly and clearly.

Officiating 3.

Today, i was the linesman for the first team that played Balby Carr at home.

I enjoyed the experience and thought i did a good job. The conditions were cold and foggy so i had to remain very focussed. I stayed in line with the last man at all times which enabled me to give four offside decisions. I gave many throwings which i thought were correct decisions except one. I wasn't sure about one of the decisions as i was too close so i gave the throwing to the defending team which overall i thought it was the correct and fair decision.

So overall i thought i did well as i gave fair and correct decisions and most importantly i kept up with play.

Abercrombie visit 7.

Today, we had to deliver a throwing and catching session 1 to 1 for 20 minutes.

As i got my student, i introduced myself and spoke to him for 5 minutes. Asking him which his favourite sport was which involved throwing and catching.

His answer was cricket so i based the techniques around that.

My session:

- Under-arm throwing.
- Over-arm throwing.
- Catching from different angles, heights distances and situations.
- Throwing the ball through targets.

I included a point system to the throwing through targets part. Michael reacted well to this and tried a lot harder trying to improve his score.

After the 20 minutes, we got the group together and had a game of goalball. Everytime somebody scored a goal, we changed the ball so the kids had tp adapt to the different situations. We used a sponge ball, a tennis ball, a netball, a volleyball and a basketball.

Overall, the session went well as Michael enjoyed the 1 to 1 coaching and improved from the 20 minutes.

Officiating 2.

As i couldn't play today, i reffed ten 7-aside matches, rolling on and off as their was three teams.

The rules were:

- Outfield players couldn't go inside the box.
- The keeper couldn't come out of the box.
- The ball couldn't go over head height.

I thought i reffed the games well as i did the following:

- Maintained control.
- Used my whistle.
- Strong with decisions.
- I was fair.
- Kept the game flowing.
- Kept up with the game.
- Used my voice.
- Consistent

Decisions i made:

- Awarded four penalties for going in the box.
- Disallowed a goal as the shot was made in the box.
- Awarded three free-kicks for fouls.
- Did a drop ball as their was a possible foul / Obstruction by both teams.

Abercrombie visit 6.

Today, i took the warm up.
I got them to stand in a space then started them off with a walk on the spot which turned into sprint then high knees. Then i got them running around in the sports hall with four instructions.
1. Left hand on the floor.
2. Right hand on the floor.
3. Both hands on the floor.
4. Jump.

I realised the kids were just running around in a circle so i introduced a knew rule.
5. Change direction.

After this, we split them into three groups to do different rounders techniques.

I helped do bowling. The technique for this was to:
- Stronger leg at back.
- Bend front leg.
- Follow through your throw.
- Aim between waist and chest height.

We got them in pairs with one ball and got them to practice bowling. Gradually getting further back, increasing the distance to throw.

Then we got all the group together for a game of rounders.

Abercrombie visit 5.

After the warm up, the class was split into three so each group had 10 children on a third of a badminton court.

My group had to deliver dribbling in basketball. When the children turned up, i explained the key factors of dribbling, which are:

- Head up
-Bounce the ball waist height
-Use one hand at a time
-Crouch your back slightly to gain control
-Use fingertips

After that i got them to dribble in the area.

I called them in after a minute and demonstrated a game which we was going to do. The exercise was to stand in a space and bounce the ball waist height to start off with, then i shout lower or higher. If i shouted lower they had to dribble the ball as low as they could and if i shouted higher they had to do it as high as they could. After three minutes of that, i got them to dribble around bouncing the ball as low as they could. Then we swapped groups and started over again.

This session went well as i took control of the group, demonstrated, encouraged, well detailed and explained games and factors and finally was loud and clear.

Football Tournament.

Today, i travelled to Lees Brook Sports College with Abercrombies Girls football team.

We turned up early so i took the girls for a warm up. The warm up consisted of:
- Running
- Sidesteps
- Skipping
- Knees up
- Heel flicks
- Star jumps
- A passing exercise
- A shooting exercise
- Penalties
- Dynamic stretches
- Static stretches

For the passing exercise, i got them in two lines and they had to follow their pass. For the shooting exercise i got them in a line, i stood a few yards infront, they had to pass me the ball and i layed them off from different angles and they had to adapt to the situation and get a shot away at the keeper.

As it was a tournament, there was several breaks so on the breaks, i got them jogging on the spot etc to keep them warm.

The first game they beat Oakwood school and beat them 3-0. The second game they won 4-0 against Model Village. The third game they lost 1-0 against Langley Mill. This allowed them through to the semi-finals which they played Penine Way and lost 4-0 (They went on and won the tournament.) After this, there was a match for third and fourth place which they played Langley Mill again and won 1-0 this time so they finished third altogether.

I played the role as assistant manager, i did the warm up, motivated and encouraged them, gave them instructions such as 'Spread, keep wide' and kept the substitute warm and prepared.

Chesterfield FC coaching session 2.

This session, we didn't do too much coaching. We took the warm up, all we did was everybody had a ball and they had to dribble around in the grid. We gradually added different skills for them to try.

After the warm up, we got them into four teams which one team had 5 players that we needed to scout/ analyse. I analysed two players in two matches, the other match i reffed.

Officiating.

I reffed a five minute match with the unified group at dinner.Nothing really happened but the things i did well was:

-Kept up with play.
-Kept control of the game.
-Made correct decisions.
-I used hand gestures.
-I spoke to the players.

Delivery of my volleyball technique.

I did the same session as i did with kids at abercrombie. It worked a lot better with the kids as it was too easy for students my age.
As it shows in the video, the ball got smashed over me most of the time.

From the photo/ video evidence, it shows the following coaching points:

- Bend at the knees
- Keep your back straight
- Place one hand around the other fist
-Make contact with the ball on your forearms.
- Keep your head up

Goalkeeping Session.

We had to deliver at Goalkeeping session to 6 other students. We had 10 minutes to design a session. I focussed on throwing and catching.
The coaching points for these techniques are:

- Bend one knee too make an L shape to prevent the ball from going under your legs.
- Keep your head up
- Keep your back straight
- Scoop the ball up with your hands, into your chest
- Roll the ball with one arm, bring it fully back and follow through with the throw.

Delivery of my hockey technique.

As a practice for Abercrombie, i delivered a hockey technique to six people from.our class on a badminton court.

I focussed on passing. The four teaching points was:
1. Legs shoulder width apart.
2. Your strongest leg at the back.
3. Bend the knee.
4. Follow through your shot.

The session worked but if i delivered this to younger children i would go through it step by step so they would understand it more.

Abercrombie visit 4.

Today we had to deliver a vary of techniques in volleyball to a group of 26 year 6's.

James Whitfield and Nathan James took the warm up. After this, we split the group into four. Me and Jake Johnson taught 'the dig'. We explained to the group together what the technique consisted of; the handgrip, hit with your forearm and bend your knees for more power. Then we split the group.into two group. I took one group, Jake took the other.

I first got them in a line single file, id lay them off and they returned it which then they joined the back of the line. A threw straight throws, soft throws and high throws so they had to adapt to the different angles. Then i tested their reactions by making them turn around. I gave them.each a number and if i shouted their number they had to turn around quick and hit it back to me.

We only had a quarter of a badminton court. The ball was going everywhere and interfering with other people so i made my group move so they was hitting it towards the wall. This controlled the session.

Overall.it went really well as we demonstrated the technique well, we was organised and everybody enjoyed it.
